To recognize registered Scouters of exceptional character who have provided distinguished service within a council.
Presented by the National Court of Honor on behalf of councils.
Anyone may nominate any deserving registered Scouter to the council by means of the Silver Beaver nomination form.
The award is presented during the annual recognition banquet of the council. All Silver Beaver honorees are automatically enrolled in Silver Beaver Colony No. 1.
Silver Beaver medal suspended from ribbon worn around neck on formal occasions, knot for uniform worn above left pocket, and lapel pin for civilian wear.
All Scouters who hold the Silver Beaver are listed below, if you know of someone worth and not on that list please nominate them.
To nominate someone with the Silver Beaver in 2026, the deadline for nominations is December 5, 2025. Please submit the nominations to the office during the week of December 1st - 5th.

Silver Beaver Colony Number One, Akron, Ohio is an organization composed of all Scouters who have received the Silver Beaver Award from the Great Trail Council (formerly Akron Area Council, Boy Scouts of America) and all Scouters who have received the Silver Beaver Award from other councils but now reside in the Great Trail Council of Scouting America.
The purposes for which this organization exists are:
To render whatever service may be designated by the Scout Executive or by the President of Great Trail Council;
To work quietly and unostentatiously within the Great Trail Council;
To afford opportunity for fellowship among the members of the organization;
To hold a regularly scheduled meeting to be arranged by the president of this organization, at a convenient time following the Annual Recognition Dinner of the Great Trail Council. At the meeting arranged, the recent recipients of the Silver Beaver award will be introduced to the organization.
To hold an annual meeting of the organization, during each summer, at Camp Manatoc, at a time to be arranged by the president of this organization.
To elect, at the annual meeting, a president, a vice-president, and a secretary/treasurer who shall be elected to serve until the next annual meeting following their election or until their successors are elected. The duties of the officers shall be those which are customarily assigned to such officers;
It is not contemplated that any dues shall be levied on the members.
This statement of purposes may be amended by a majority vote of the members present at any annual meeting of this organization.
