Unit Renewal Timeline and District Support Dates

Dates for Canal and Stambaugh are below.

Unit Key 3s will receive Unit Renewal email guidance from the Council Commissioner in October.

Unit Renewal Window opens November 1, 2026. Unit renewals must be completed by December 11, 2026, to avoid a late fee.

Timeline to renew your unit

September 10, 2026

Start updating your unit's leadership (THIS CAN TAKE A WHILE, DEPENDING ON YOUR SITUATION), and confirm people are in the positions they will be in when you renew the unit. Confirm that SYT will be current at the time of renewal for each adult member.

October 15, 2026

Correct any problems with leadership positions. Confirm that your unit's Key 3 (Unit Leader, Committee Chair, Chartered Organization Representative) have completed all their position-specific training--this will prevent your unit from renewing. Have your payment method ready to renew. There is a $115 renewal fee.

November 1, 2026

Go to MY.SCOUTING.ORG to renew your unit. Most units will renew in minutes; find out if you are one of them. Others will find out what they need to do to complete the renewal.

We would like a large number of units to be completed within this first week. Open the process and see if your unit can be one of them.

November 1-30, 2025

This is the time to find out and fix any problems you did not anticipate. Contact your District Commissioner at if you need help. See District Support dates below.

IMPORTANT FOR 2026: Great Trail Council is requiring that a unit's Key 3 (Unit Leader, Committee Chair, Chartered Organization Representative/Delegate) has completed all position-specific training for their position in order for the unit to renew this year. Ensure this is completed for your unit's Key 3 NOW to prevent issues!

Council Registered Units only:

Continue to complete required paperwork. Turn in paperwork to your Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner or District Executive upon completion or attend your district help/ turn-in session. The due date for all paperwork is November 30.

If you have any issues that prevent you from finishing your paperwork, please contact your District Commissioner or District Executive.

Units with Charter Organizations:

You have no paperwork to turn in.

December 11, 2026

Last day to complete renewal without incurring a late fee.

December 12, 2026

$125 Late fee applied to unit renewals not completed. Completion requires successful online renewal, including payment, all required paperwork completed, and with all required signatures.
